Who is the smallest footballer ever?

This question occurred after a few too many pints of Chocolate Stout and Ginger Beer in one of Manchester’s hidden gems the Marble Arch Inn. There’s nothing better than a random footy related conversation fuelled by some fine ale, especially with the added intelligence that a mobile internet device can bring to the table.

New Blackpool Away Shirt 2010/11 Carbrini

Fresh off the back of Blackpool’s first game demolishment of Wigan Athletic here are some high quality images of the eagerly awaited Carbrini Blackpool Away shirt which the Tangerine Army will wear in their first spell in the Premier League. The shirt comes in all white with tangerine accents.

Manchester United Away Shirt 2010/11

It’s been a while since we talked about footy shirts, but off the back of United’s Community Shield win here is the new Manchester United Away Shirt for the 2010/11 Premier League Season.

A section of united faithful had no doubt hoped for re-creation of the 1992/94 3rd Umbro shirt which was inspired by United’s first ever shirt in 1878 when they were known as Newton Heath, but we will not dwell on that fact. Instead Nike have gone for a more contemporary edgier approach, sticking to the second choice white of recent years with a black and red chevron printed on each sleeve, which is zig-zaged on the edges. The shirt features a round neck with attention detail on the back second to none with the meshed in zig-zaged chevron shapes which get narrower the lower down the spine. MUFC printed in black at the back of the neck finishes the shirt nicely.

New Blackpool Home Shirt 2010/11 Carbrini

Here are some high quality images of the eagerly awaited Carbrini Blackpool home shirt which the Tangerine Army will wear in their first spell in the Premier League. The shirt comes in the traditional Blackpool tangerine colours with white accents on the classic v-neck which is clearly inspired from the 1956/58 shirt. This shirt followed Blackpool’s highest-ever League finish, runners-up to Manchester United in the 1955/56 season and over the following two seasons, the seasiders finished in a respectable fourth and seventh place.

During Blackpool’s glorious era in the First Division a wealth of football talent appeared in the famous tangerine jerseys, including Stanley Matthews who was named the European Footballer of the Year in 1956 as well as being crowned ‘King Soccer’ in 1957 and was also awarded the CBE in the same year. It is impossible to name all the great players who blossomed at Bloomfield Road but it is only right to name drop a few, Roy Gatrix, David Durie, Bill Perry, Jackie Mudie, George Farm, Ernie Taylor, Allan Brown and Harry Johnston.

We should also highlight that it is also Carbrini’s first stint in the top flight of English Football and that everybody at footballshirts.co.uk hopes the Tangerine Army can instil some self belief from their great clubs history, in what will be a hard-hitting first season. On the flip side I’m sure the continental stars of the Premier League will not be looking forward to that cold sea breeze at Bloomfield Road and the roofless stadium should also bring the pampered players of the English National Team back to the roots of the game we love… Come on the Pool!
