We’ve colated the home footy shirts of the five British football teams that will be battling it out in this years Champions League.
Football Shirt Typos
We like to talk about football shirts on footballshirts.co.uk, but how important is the name on the back of a footy shirt and has a player took to the pitch with a typo on the back of the shirt.
We’ve been able to locate a few typos with a lot of help from the guardian.co.uk.
Another strong performance in the new England shirt
Can anyone else feel themselves starting to forget the awful showing in South Africa and start to believe that the new England youngsters (Johnson, Walcott, Hart etc.) are actually capable of winning the European Championships in Poland & Ukraine? No, just me? Well give it time and that blind optimism will return.
New England Home Shirt from Umbro
On Friday night we all got our first glimpses of Rooney and co. wearing the new England home shirt in the flesh. With touches of 1980 England kit made by Admiral (most noticeably the blue shorts), the design makes a refreshing change from the all white kit of recent years which, for me personally, is now associated with the disappointment of South Africa.
Masters Football shirts competition – window almost shut
Just a quick reminder that much like the transfer window, our free competition to win an Arsenal and Chelsea masters shirt is about to close. You get slightly more time than West Ham, Tottenham or is Birmingham, get to wrap up the signing of Babel, but not much. Basically what I’m saying is you have until midnight to enter the competition…
Scotland 1982 World Cup Shirt – Retro shirt of the day
Although I’m not Scottish and have no Scottish connections I do look back at the Scottish teams of the late 1970′s and 1980′s with some fondness. Although Scotland never achieved all they should have done with the players at their disposal during this period, it was still a great period for Scottish football. With players such as Graeme Souness, Kenny Dalglish, Alan Brazil, Joe Jordan and Archie Gemmill it was a time when Scotland felt they could go and conquer the world.
It was a tough choice between the 1978 shirt, the 1982 shirt and the 1986 shirt. In the end I plumped for the 1982 kit because after going out in the group stages of the 1978 World Cup (despite huge expectations that Ali’s Army were going to win the cup) and failing to qualify for the 1980 European Championships in Italy, Scotland were able to return to form and qualify for their thrid consecutive World Cup.
Again, Scotland didn’t qualify from the group stages but at least they were there and only narrowly missed out on qualification by goal difference. And considering they were in a group containing a Brazil team made up of Sócrates, Zico and Falcão as well as a Soviet Union team boasting Oleg Blokhin, the boys from Scotland could still hold their heads high.
The kit itself is what I would describe as classically simple, with the V-neck collar that makes up the quintessential 1980′s football strip. So whilst the kit itself may not have been at the cutting edge of design, the fact it was worn by so many greats whilst representing their nation at home and abroad makes it an all time great.

New Chelsea third kit 2010/11
The new Chelsea third choice strip for the 2010/11 season is about to be released. Now whilst the form shown by Chelsea at the start of the season will no doubt mean they will be able to sell a few more shirts as fans get caught up in the excitement of stuffing Blackpool and West Brom – how does the new kit stand up as a piece of clothing on its own. In my opinion… pretty well, although not quite as good as the yellow chelsea third kit released in 2008.
The kit is due for release tomorrow 26.08.2010
Oh and while I remember… time is almost up on our Chelsea Masters shirt competition. Show if you fancy entering our FREE Chelsea competition click on the link below and answer the multiple choice question. The competition closes at the end of August.

Manchester United Away Shirt 2010/11

It’s been a while since we talked about footy shirts, but off the back of United’s Community Shield win here is the new Manchester United Away Shirt for the 2010/11 Premier League Season.
A section of united faithful had no doubt hoped for re-creation of the 1992/94 3rd Umbro shirt which was inspired by United’s first ever shirt in 1878 when they were known as Newton Heath, but we will not dwell on that fact. Instead Nike have gone for a more contemporary edgier approach, sticking to the second choice white of recent years with a black and red chevron printed on each sleeve, which is zig-zaged on the edges. The shirt features a round neck with attention detail on the back second to none with the meshed in zig-zaged chevron shapes which get narrower the lower down the spine. MUFC printed in black at the back of the neck finishes the shirt nicely.
You will be able to buy this shirt from the 23/09/2010.
